Following a career path shaped by commitment to advocacy and the promotion of human rights, Tia started out in youth services and case management upon completion of a degree in International Studies. Later as a graduate student, she researched migration patterns of vulnerable populations, particularly women and children which led to a passionate interest in fighting human trafficking. As a non-profit administrator, she developed income generation programs and education initiatives to support the rehabilitation of survivors and their families. Fascinated by resiliency, she embarked on a study of mental health and wellness to better understand the strength that some people possess in overcoming trauma.
